People Call Them Bed Bugs
January 4, 2019
People call them bed bugs. The name makes people think they only infest beds.
However, we see bed bugs everywhere. Of course, we see them most often in beds, couches, and chairs. These are places we sit or lay still which allows the bugs time to feed. We also see them in unusual places around the home like bathrooms, kitchens, garages, outside on the front porch, and climbing up exterior walls. They won’t live long outside because other insects will eat them.
So, how do they get in my bed? They don’t just appear one day! These bugs hitch hike or walk through the unusual places in search of a host (You and your family). Remember they are an insect that needs to feed to survive.
It’s interesting how many people discover bed bugs in their home and say “I know where they came from”. In reality the introduction of a bed bug could have come from anywhere. They are hitchhikers, so you may have picked one up while you were out in public. They are often found in cars, buses, airplanes, restaurants, schools, doctors offices, hospitals, day care centers, your work, summer camps, and hotels. Maybe someone brought one to you when they visited. It’s hard to say.
Regardless, be aware that they are everywhere — especially in Honolulu and all of Oahu. If you see bed bugs call Wela Pest Control at 808-286-1864.
Don’t take our word for it
I want to let you know how effective your heat treatment was in eliminating a significant bed bug infestation in a condo I was servicing. Within four (4) hours, the condo in question was completely free of bedbugs and other pests. This saved the sale of the condo. Great professional service.
